Reza was born in Kuala Kangsar and raised on the island of Pulau Pinang. He received his secondary education at the Penang Free School. He was later enrolled in the esteemed Malay College.
M Reza was called to the Malaysian Bar in 1993. In 1999, M Reza offered his services as a Legal Assistant with Syarikat Kam Woon Wah, a prominent legal firm that had been in existence since the 1960s. Here, M Reza honed his skills in litigation, sometimes handling four trials in a week.
In 2001, M Reza then offered his services as a Legal Assistant at Messrs. Cheang & Ariff, yet another prominent legal firm, where he was subsequently appointed as an Associate. Here, as the most senior Associate, he was entrusted to personally handle matters of various nature in courts at all levels, from the subordinate courts to the appellate courts. Amongst the more prominent ones were matters concerning election petitions.
M Reza was also invited to conduct seminars and workshops, in areas concerning the law of defamation. His expertise also extends to the criminal courts, where he has conducted the defense in matters relating to white collar crimes, including but not limited to corruption cases.
In May 2005, M Reza was invited by the Advocates & Solicitors Disciplinary Board to be a member of the Disciplinary Committee panel.
Sometime in April 2011, for his services rendered to the state of Perak, M Reza was conferred with the Most Honourable Order of the Crown of Perak, the Ahli Mahkota Perak.
In 2014, in recognition for his services rendered to the territory of Wilayah Persekutuan, M Reza was conferred with the Order of the Territorial Crown, the Johan Mahkota Wilayah.
In 2016, M Reza was made a Knight Commander of the Order of the Territorial Crown, Panglima Mahkota Wilayah.
M Reza is into heavy metal.
Nufail Altaf graduated with an LL.B (Hons) from Universiti Teknologi MARA in 2023 and completed his pupillage under the guidance of Datuk M. Reza Hassan at Raja Riza & Associates, gaining valuable experience and exposure in both criminal and civil matters. He was called to the Bar in September 2024.
As part of the litigation team, he handles a wide range of civil and criminal cases, and also assists in probate matters. In his spare time, Nufail can often be found lending his voice as a lead singer, jamming with his band, or discovering new music.
Nuradriana graduated with an LL.B (Hons) from Universiti Teknologi MARA in 2023 and completed her pupillage at Yeow & Salleh in 2024, gaining valuable experience in conveyancing matters. She was called to the Bar in November 2024.
She joined Raja Riza & Associates in June 2025 and is currently part of the conveyancing and litigation team. Outside the courtroom, she is an avid traveller, dedicated volunteer and outdoor enthusiast who has successfully summitted Mount Kinabalu twice. A 2nd Dan black belt in Taekwondo, she brings the same discipline and perseverance from the martial arts arena into her legal career.
Teh Kah Yan graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) from the University of London in 2022 and completed the Certificate in Legal Practice (CLP) in 2024. She undertook her pupillage under the guidance of Datuk M Reza Hassan at Raja Riza & Associates. As part of the litigation team, she handles both civil and criminal matters.
In her spare time, Kah Yan can often be found with a sketchbook in hand, spending time with her four-legged companion, or planning her next adventure.
Riyan Hidayat earned his LL.B. (Hons) degree from the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia in 2022. Following the completion of his pupillage at Messrs Othman Hashim & Co, he was admitted as an advocate & solicitor of the High Court Malaya in 2023.
In 2023, Riyan Hidayat joined Messrs Raja Riza & Associates, where he manages the criminal and civil litigation portfolios.
Riyan Hidayat finds solace and excitement in the midst of nature. Hiking through rugged terrains and camping under the starlit sky are not just hobbies for Riyan Hidayat but a way of life.
